In January of 2008, the congregation launched a weekly Spanish service using the name “Iglesia Luterana Mi Salvador” and has been blessed with new leaders. Recent developments in our congregation have been the extension of First Lutheran to include Iglesia Luterana Mi Salvador, our Spanish congregates. Today, our church continues with the missional foundation.

Our basketball outreach ministry that began with our Connect 3on3 outreach event seeks to minister to young adults throughout our neighborhood. Annual mission trips to El Salvador bring together Lutheran churches from across the country. That is only the beginning.

Our Pastor

Since February of 2006, the Rev. Kristian Johnson has served as Pastor of First Lutheran Church/Iglesia Luterana Mi Salvador in Inglewood, CA.

Fluent in Spanish and English, he is thankful to be a witness as God transforms our church and community by doing “a new thing” (Isaiah 43:19) Over the past 5 years, the congregation has tripled in size and has started 16 new programs to serve the community.

Pastor Kristian graduated with a Masters of Divinity from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago in 2005. He served as a youth minister on the north side of Chicago for five years, and has spent significant time learning and serving among Christians in Tanzania, East Africa and El Salvador, Central America. Rev. Johnson majored in music at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, and plays the guitar, piano, and tuba. He lives with his wife, Pastor Anna-Kari Langseth-Johnson and his daughter Hope, his son Emanuel, and his son Xavier (7 months) in Inglewood.
